WHO WE ARE

The 1919 Aliab Dinka Resistance Memorial, established through the Aliab Community Association, honors the Aliab Dinka people’s heroic stand against British colonial rule in 1919. The name reflects the community’s courage, resistance, and enduring unity. The memorial serves as a living tribute to the chiefs and warriors who defended their land and freedom, preserving their legacy for future generations.

Located in South Sudan, the memorial commemorates the 1919 uprising in which the Aliab Dinka resisted colonial oppression. It stands as both a historical monument and an educational center, symbolizing resilience, freedom, and cultural pride. The site honors fallen heroes such as Chiefs Kon Anok Nyingeer, Manyang Chapa Thokluel, Dut Cuei Dut, Acol Bon Acol, and others whose leadership inspired the struggle for independence.
