Under the Anglo-Egyptian Condominium (1899–1956), British authorities implemented indirect rule through local chiefs, often disrupting traditional power balances. The colonial system imposed economic and social changes that undermined indigenous governance and livelihoods. Despite limited resources, leaders like Paramount Chief Kon Anok Nyingeer united the Aliab Dinka in defense of their land and dignity. His eventual martyrdom in Mangala symbolized the enduring struggle for freedom.
Purpose of the Memorial
The memorial was established to:
